HISTORY
The seed of Neville Green was planted on a hot July afternoon in 1993, when three concerned residents decided to form a group of volunteers to beautify Neville Island, PA.
Highlights from the last 29 years of Neville Green
1993 - One flower bed created
1997 - Five Flower beds created 1998 - Awarded Three Rivers Environmental Award sponsored by PA Environmental Council and Duquesne light - Fully incorporated 501(c)(3) tax status 1999 - Tree Benches and walkways were added to War Memorial Park, which featured memorial pavers on the walkway 2000 - Sponsored Neville Naturalists Educational Program for children ages 7 - 14 years-old, which ran through 2009 2008 - Sponsored book publishing of History of Neville Island 2009 - Tree maintenance for War Memorial Park and Cottage Park 2011 - Awarded three $500.00 Scholarships to students who reside on Neville Island 2013 - Installed light for Flag at Cottage Park and Welcome Banners along Grand Ave 2022 - Currently maintain five flower beds and 32 planters on Grand Ave As of today, Neville Green has planted 40 trees on Neville Island |
